Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece, is the financial and administrative centre of Macedonia region. It is a densely populated city with a steadily increasing population, facing problems such as traffic, urban and industrial pollution and waste management.
The Eleftherio-Kordelio E.E.C. is located in the western part of the city of Thessaloniki, in the municipality of Kordelio-Evosmos, close to the industrial area. Its location enables us to easily explore many issues concerning urban environment. The Centre is accomodated in a beautiful bioclimatic building designed and built in 1998 exclusively to serve and promote the Environmental Education. It has a multipurpose hall, classrooms, library, offices and a beautiful garden.
The E.E.C. in Vertiskos is located 55 km away from Thessaloniki, in an altitude of 800m in between the village and an oak forest. It is an ideal place to address natural environment and rural communities issues. The premises in Vertiskos in the former camp site include a small conference hall, classrooms, playground, offices and the former school of the village.
